A Yellow Ribbon to Madame Cory

with all the media blitz made about the passing of ex-President Corazon Cojuangco Aguino, one has different views and reflections regarding the legacy of our former president depending on what generation and region you belong..

here are my thoughts and views about the passing of Madame Cory:

1. the devotion of her that one would notice she’s the only philippine president admired by the laity (nuns and priests) including pastors of other christian denominations..the aura of mrs. aquino is so immense that people watching her funeral on tv could feel it..in fact, the Pope even sent his condolences to the Aquino family and entire filipino people.

2. in politics there are no permanent enemies but only permanent interests - the estrada family visits..ex-Philippine President Estrada whose Pro-Poor Mass programs were in fact just a facade to accumulate millions of money from JUETENG..

3. many would disagree with me but the humbleness of the Marcoses, whether it is real or public showing the fact that Bong Bong and Irene visited Ms. Aquino at Manila Cathedral is such a sight to behold..remember when Jessica Soco asked Ms. Aquino about the Marcoses and she replied she had leave everything to God to decide..wow..sabi ko sa sarili..i think Tita Cory had lived her life to the fullest..

4. i’m not a big fan of Kris and Noynoy..in fact i was greatly dissatisfied how Noynoy handled the protesters at the Hacienda Luisita in Tarlac..dun sa documentary episodes na yun sa tv lumabas ang totoong kulay ni Noynoy..idugtong na rin natin si Korina na naging syota ni Noynoy at ngayon future wife ni Mar Roxas..like they say showbiz is showbiz..

5. Among Ms. Aquino’s children - her eldest child Ballsy impressed me more..she showed some similarity to their mother..and it also showed on her personality on tv..

6. to all the detractors of Ms. Aquino, the following being hurled unto her:

a. CARP - the failure of the agrarian reform program that Ms. Aquino failed to include their Hacienda among the list of lands to be distributed. They even devised a wicked plan to turn it into a corporation-kuno..well i couldn’t blame her as blood is thicker than water..whatever is on her mind maybe it was a family decision..

b. the failure of her government before - from negative growth rates, to endless blackouts, to coup d’etat - please remember that the government of Ms. Aquino was a transition government from the reins of a dictator to a democratic government..these are expected..in fact the next government who ruled under a semi-iron hand experienced a brief economic take off..

generally, i would say Ms. Aquino passed all the tests that comes to her life..and i’m one of them who will support her not a saint but BLESSED..
