The Eye

My mom only had one eye. I hated her… She was such an embarrassment.
She cooked for students & teachers to support the family.
-
There was this one day during elementary school where my mom came to
Say hello to me.
-
I was so embarrassed.
-
How could she do this to me?
I ignored her, threw her a hateful look and ran out.
The next day at school one of my classmates said, “EEEE, your mom only
Has one eye!”
-
I wanted to bury myself.
I also wanted my mom to just disappear.
I confronted her that day and said, ” If you’re only goanna make me a
Laughing stock, why don’t you just die?”
-
My mom did not respond…
I didn’t even stop to think for a second about what I had said, because
I was full of anger.
I was oblivious to her feelings.
-
I wanted out of that house, and have nothing to do with her.
So I studied real hard, got a chance to go abroad to study.
Then, I got married.
I bought a house of my own.
I had kids of my own.
I was happy with my life, my kids and the comforts, Then one day, my
Mother came to visit me.
She hadn’t seen me in years and she didn’t even meet her
Grandchildren.
-
When she stood by the door, my children laughed at her, and I yelled at
Her for coming over uninvited.
I screamed at her, “How dare you come to my house and scare my
Children!”
GET OUT OF HERE! NOW!!!”
-
And to this, my mother quietly answered, “Oh, I’m so sorry. I may have
Gotten the wrong address,”
And she disappeared out of sight.
One day, a letter regarding a school reunion came to my house.
-
So I lied to my wife that I was going on a business trip.
After the reunion, I went to the old shack just out of curiosity.
-
My neighbors said that she died..
I did not shed a single tear.
They handed me a letter that she had wanted me to have.

-
“My dearest daughter,
I think of you all the time. I’m sorry that I came to your house and
Scared your children.
I was so glad when I heard you were coming for the reunion.
But I may not be able to even get out of bed to see you.
I’m sorry that I was a constant embarrassment to you when you were
Growing up.

You see…when you were very little, you got into an accident, and
Lost your eye.
As a mother, I couldn’t stand watching you
Having to grow up with one eye.
So I gave you mine.
I was so proud of my daughter who was seeing a whole new world for me, in my p
lace, with that eye.

With all my love to you,
Your mother.

The Club

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

A man wanted to enter an exclusive club but did not know the password that was required. He waited by the door and listened.

A club member knocked on the door and the doorman said, “twelve.”
The member replied, “six ” and was let in.

A second member came to the door and the doorman said, “six.”
The member replied, “three” and was let in.

The man thought he had heard enough and walked up to the door. The doorman said ,”ten” and the man replied, “five.”

But he was not let in. What should have he said?

Comon guys, put on your thinking caps & get the solution……

Ans:- 3

The man had to reply the number of characters in the word the Doorman was asking.

He should have replied “Three” instead of “Five”.

I bet u’ll read the question again….

Interview with GOD

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

“Come in,” God said to me, “So, you would like to interview Me?”

“If you have the time,” I said.

He smiled and said:

“My time is called eternity and there is enough to do everything. What questions do you have in mind to ask me?”

“None that are new to you. What’s the one thing that surprises you most about mankind?”

He answered:

“That they get bored of being children, are in a rush to grow up and then long to be children again.
-
That they lose their health to make money and then lose their money to restore their health.
-
That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, such that they live neither for the present nor the future.
-
That they live as if they will never die, and they die as if they had never lived…”

His hands took mine and we were silent. After a long period, I said,

“May I ask you another question?” “As a Father, what would you ask your children to do for the new year?”

He replied with a smile:

“To learn that they cannot make anyone love them. What they can do is to let themselves be loved.
-
To learn that it takes years to build trust, and a few seconds to destroy it.
-
To learn that what is most valuable is not what they have in their lives, but who they have in their lives.
-
To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others. There will be others better or worse than they are.
-
To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most, but is one who needs the least.
-
To learn that they should control their attitudes, otherwise their attitudes will control them.
-
To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in persons we love, and that it takes many years to heal them.
-
To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness.
-
To learn that there are persons that love them dearly, but simply do not know how to show their feelings.
-
To learn that money can buy everything but happiness.
-
To learn that while at times they may be entitled to be upset, that does not give them the right to upset those around them.
-
To learn that great dreams do not require great wings, but good landing gear to achieve them.
-
To learn that true friends are scarce, whoever finds one has found a true treasure.
-
To learn that it is not always enough that they be forgiven by others, but that they forgive themselves.
-
To learn that they are masters of what they keep to themselves and slaves of what they say.
-
To learn that they shall reap what they plant; if they plant gossip they will harvest intrigues, if they plant love they will harvest happiness.
-
To learn that true happiness is not to achieve their goals but to learn to be satisfied with what they have already achieved.
-
To learn that happiness is a decision. We decide to be happy with what we are and have, or die from envy and jealousy of what we lack.
-
To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see something totally different.
-
To learn that those who are honest with themselves without considering the consequences will go far in life.
-
To learn that even though they may think they have nothing to give, when a friend cries with them, they find the strength to appease the pain.
-
To learn that by trying to hold on to loved ones, they very quickly push them away; and by letting go of those they love, they will be together forever.

A Visit to China

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

While on a visit to China, a man is sexually promiscuous and does not use a condom. A week after arriving back home in Australia, he wakes one morning to find his penis covered with bright green and purple spots.

Horrified, he immediately goes to see a Doctor.
The Doctor, never having seen anything like this before, orders some tests and tells the man to return in two days for the results.

The man returns a couple of days later and the Doctor says:
I’ve got bad news for you. you’ve contracted Mongolian VD.
It’s very rare and almost unheard of here. We know very little about it.”

The man looks a little perplexed and says:
“Well, give me a shot or something and fix me up.”

The Doctor answers: “I’m sorry, there’s no known cure.
We’re going to have to amputate your penis.”

The man screams in horror, “Absolutely not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want a second opinion.”
The doctor replies: “Well, it’s your choice, Go ahead if you want, but surgery is your only choice.”

The next day, the man seeks out a Chinese doctor, figuring that he’ll know more about the disease.
The Chinese doctor examines his penis and proclaims:
“Ah, yes, Mongolian VD… Vely rare disease.”

The guy says to the doctor: “Yeah, yeah, I already know that, but what can we do? My Aussie doctor wants to operate and amputate my penis!”

The Chinese doctor shakes his head and laughs:
“Stupid Ozzie docta, always want to opelate. Make more money that way…. No need to opelate!”

Oh, thank God!” the man replies.

“Yes,” says the Chinese doctor, “You no worry!
Wait two weeks…… Faw off all by itself!”

I’ve Learned..

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

I’ve learned that, no matter what happens, how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.

-

I’ve learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles four things: a rainy day, the elderly, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.

-

I’ve learned that, regardless of your relationship with your parents, you’ll miss them when they’re gone from your life.

-

I’ve learned that making a ‘living’ is not the same thing as making a ‘life..’

-

I’ve learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.

-

I’ve learned that you shouldn’t go through life with a catcher’s mitt on both hands. You need to be able to throw something back I’ve learned that if you pursue happiness, it will elude you But, if you focus on your family, your friends, the needs of others, your work and doing the very best you can, happiness will find you

-

I’ve learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision.

-

I’ve learned that even when I have pains, I don’t have to be one.

-

I’ve learned that every day, you should reach out and touch someone. People love that human touch — holding hands, a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.

-

I’ve learned that I still have a lot to learn.

Sister Mathematical and Sister Logical

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

There were two nuns…

One of them was known as Sister Mathematical (SM), and the other one was known as Sister Logical (SL).

It is getting dark and they are still far away from the convent.

SM: Have you noticed that a man has been following us for the past thirty-eight and a half minutes? I wonder what he wants.

SL: It’s logical. He wants to rape us.

SM: Oh, no! At this rate he will reach us in 15 minutes at the most! What can we do?

SL: The only logical thing to do of course is to walk faster.

SM: It’s not working.

SL: Of course it’s not working. The man did the only logical thing. He started to walk faster, too.

SM: So, what shall we do? At this rate he will reach us in one minute.

SL: The only logical thing we can do is split. You go that way and I’ll go this way.  He cannot follow us both.

So the man decided to follow Sister Logical.  Sister Mathematical arrives at the convent and is worried about what has happened to Sister Logical.  Then Sister Logical arrives.

SM: Sister Logical! Thank God you are here!  Tell me what happened!

SL: The only logical thing happened.  The man couldn’t follow us both, so he followed me.

SM: Yes, yes! But what happened then?

SL: The only logical thing happened. I started to run as fast as I could and he started to run as fast as he could.

SM: And?!!

SL: The only logical thing happened. He reached me.

SM: Oh, dear! What did you do?

SL: The only logical thing to do.  I lifted my dress up.

SM: Oh, Sister! What did the man do?

SL: The only logical thing to do.  He pulled down his pants.

SM: Oh, no! What happened then?

-

-

-

SL: Isn’t it logical, Sister?  A nun with her dress up can run faster than man with his pants down.

And for those of you who thought it would be dirty..

The Final Inspection

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

This one is nice - a salute to all the soldiers as peacekeeping forces. I work in a company providing remote life-support services to the military (Iraq, Afghanistan, Sudan, Chad and Kyrgyzstan). Kudos also to the multi-national personnel serving these military bases..This was posted in my yahoo group date May 31, 2005. I did not edit the attached comment.

————————————-

The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

“Step forward now, you soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?”

The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
“No, Lord, I guess I ain’t.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can’t always be a saint.

I’ve had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I’ve been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny,
That wasn’t mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I’ve wept unmanly tears.

I know I don’t deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.

If you’ve a place for me here, Lord,
It needn’t be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don’t, I’ll understand.”

There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly
For the judgment of his God.

“Step forward now, you soldier,
You’ve borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets,
You’ve done your time in Hell.”

Many of us may disagree with what there sent over by some politicians to do but they deserve our support.

It is the Soldier Who salutes the flag, Who serves beneath the flag, and Whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag.

Please pass this on and pray for our men and women currently serving our country and pray for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.

The Wooden Bowl

A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and four-year  -  old grandson.

The old man’s hands trembled, his eyesight was blurred, and his step faltered.

The family ate together at the table. But the elderly grandfather’s shaky hands and failing sight made eating difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor.

When he grasped the glass, milk spilled on the tablecloth.
The son and daughter-in-law became irritated with the mess.

‘We must do something about father,’ said the son.

‘I’ve had enough of his spilled milk, noisy eating, and food on the floor.’

So the husband and wife set a small table in the corner.

There, Grandfather ate alone while the rest of the family enjoyed dinner.

Since Grandfather had broken a dish or two, his food was served in a wooden bowl.

When the family glanced in Grandfather’s direction, sometimes he had a tear in his eye as he sat alone.

Still, the only words the couple had for him were sharp admonitions when he dropped  a fork or spilled food.

The four-year-old watched it all in silence.

One evening before supper, the father noticed his son playing with wood scraps on the floor.

He asked the child sweetly, ‘What are you making?’ Just as sweetly, the boy responded,

‘Oh, I am making a little bowl for you and Mama to eat your food in when I grow up.’ The four-year-old smiled and  went back to work.

The words so struck the parents so that they were speechless.

Then tears started to stream down their cheeks.

Though no word was spoken, both knew what must be done.

That evening the husband took Grandfather’s hand and  gently led him back to the family table.

For the remainder of his days he ate every meal with the family.

And for some reason, neither husband nor wife seemed to care any longer when a fork was dropped, milk spilled, or the tablecloth soiled.

————————————–

i first learned about this story from my mom, who is a teacher. there’s a similar but twisted story about a vulture or an eagle crossing an ocean and carrying her three children. On every trip, she asks each child if they will take care of her when she grows old. The first and second child she carries answered “yes” to her question. But the mother thought they were lying so as to appease her and not to drop them in the ocean. And the mother vulture intentionaly drop each child in the raging ocean. Now its the turn of her last child to be carried to other side of the ocean.

You know what the third child answered: ‘ I will not take care of you coz i also have children to take care of ‘, knowing that if he will answer it with ‘yes’ - his mother would drop him. The mother vulture ponders and sees the truthfulness of his answer and so she carried him in safety.

Love Thy Parents..Part II

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

An 80 year old man was sitting on the sofa in his house along with his 45 years old highly educated son. Suddenly a crow perched on their window.

The Father asked his Son, “What is this?”

The Son replied “It is a crow”.

After a few minutes, the Father asked his Son the 2nd time, “What is this?”

The Son said “Father, I have just now told you “It’s a crow”.

After a little while, the old Father again asked his Son the 3rd time, “What is this?”

At this time some ex-pression of irritation was felt in the Son’s tone when he said to his Father with a rebuff. “It’s a crow, a crow”.

A little after, the Father again asked his Son t he 4th time, “What is this?”

This time the Son shouted at his Father, “Why do you keep asking me the same question again and again, although I have told you so many times ‘IT IS A CROW’. Are you not able to understand this?”

A little later the Father went to his room and came back with an old tattered diary, which he had maintained since his Son was born. On opening a page, he asked his Son to read that page. When the son read it, the following words were written in the diary :

-

“Today my little son aged three was sitting with me on the sofa, when a crow was sitting on the window. My Son asked me 23 times what it was, and I replied to him all 23 times that it was a Crow. I hugged him lovingly each time he asked me the same question again and again for 23 times. I did not at all feel irritated I rather felt affection for my innocent child”. While the little child asked him 23 times “What is this”, the Father had felt no irritation in replying to the same question all 23 times and when today the Father asked his Son the same question just 4 times, the Son felt irritated and annoyed.

So..

If your parents attain old age, do not repulse them or look at them as a burden, but speak to them a gracious word, be cool, obedient, humble and kind to them. Be considerate to your parents. From today say this aloud, “I want to see my parents happy forever. They have cared for me ever since I was a little child. They have always showered their selfless love on me. They crossed all mountains and valleys without seeing the storm and heat to make me a person presentable in the society today”.

Say a prayer to God, “I will serve my old parents in the BEST way. I will say all good and kind words to my dear parents, no matter how they behave.

In the Philippines,

MOTHER’S DAY - is celebrated on the second Sunday on the month of May.

FATHER’S DAY - is celebrated on the third sunday on the month of June.

and the ‘not yet so popular’,

GRANDPARENT’S DAY - It is celebrated on the first sunday after labor day in the US (Labor Day - September 1) so this year it will fall on September 8 - the grandparents day. (source: wikipedia.org)

Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are sometimes celebrated along with religious activities. A church mass is offered to mothers and fathers on their special occasion. And most children send flowers to their mothers or treat them outside for a special lunch or dinner.
